A Nepalese national was arrested on Monday by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Varanasi for charging people on pretext of recruitment in the army.
The ATS arrested Chandra Bahadur Khatri from Varanasi, who was playing the role of the broker and recruited people into the army.
Khatri is basically a resident of Nepal's Balkot village. He was admitted to the Gorkha regiment in Gorakhpur in 1982 wherein he was suspended in 1991.
After his dismissal, Khatri stayed in a rented house near the Varanasi army regiment.
Here, he used to target young men, who were coming from Nepal to join the army.
During this time, by staying in contact with these youth, he created fake certificates of local address, housing and educational certificates for them.
In the investigation, it was found that in the case of producing fake documents Khatri was sent to the Chetganj Police Station in 2010.
The police officials said that the interrogation is underway and other arrests may also take place.
