Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Sulkhan Singh, who was to retire from his post tomorrow, has been given an extension of three-month, by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday.
Earlier on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh government sent a proposal to the Centre for the extension of Singh's tenure.
Surprisingly, this announcement came after the farewell ceremony of Singh was organised earlier in the day.
Sulkhan Singh is a 1980-batch IPS officer.
Sulkhan Singh replaced Javeed Ahmed as the Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh on April 21.
The IPS has served in various key positions for Uttar Pradesh Police.
