Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu on Sunday said that the state's BJP government is afraid of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as she raises issues related to farmers and other social problems.
He also slammed the state administration for stopping her from meeting the family of a retired IPS officer, who was arrested on December 19 during protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
"This government is afraid of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as she raises issues related to farmers and other social problems. They cannot stop other party leaders from protesting or talking and meeting with people. This is our fundamental right," he said while speaking to ANI here.
"This government created obstruction for Priyanka Gandhi to meet the family as they are afraid that she and Rahul Gandhi can reveal the truth about them," he added.
On Saturday evening, Priyanka alleged that she was strangulated by an Uttar Pradesh policewoman while she was on way to Darapuri's residence and was also pushed due to which she fell down.
"UP Police stopped me while I was going to meet the family of Darapuri ji. A policewoman strangulated and manhandled me. They surrounded me while I was going on a party worker's two-wheeler, after which I walked to reach there," she had said.
Lucknow SSP Kalanidhi Naithini, however, refuted Gandhi's allegations, calling these "untrue".
Congress later demanded action against the cop for her "physical violence" and dismissal of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government in Uttar Pradesh.
