'Upset' Miandad says changing captains will not 'make a difference' to Pak's fortunes

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Javed Miandad is reportedly saddened by the current squad's third consecutive series defeat in both Test and ODI formats in Sri Lanka and has said that changing captains will not make a difference.

Miandad, who is the record run-getter for Pakistan in the Test format, bemoaned the lack of quality in the batting line-up. He said that the players have failed to establish themselves in the team despite being part of the set up for long time now.

Miandad said that the great players of yester years were all consistent, and added that they do not have any batsman who can enter world class batting line-ups like Australia and India, The Express Tribune reported.

The former skipper also said that replacing Misbah-ul Haq as captain will not change the team's fortunes. He said that changing captains won't make a difference since a new leader will have to deal with the same players.

He also added that sending a 10-member team management to Sri Lanka was a case of blindly following other international sides.

Miandad said that Pakistan needs to stop following other nations blindly, and added that they need to have their own infrastructure and the team management needs to realise that the players cannot be taught on laptops.

The legendary batsman also believes that Pakistan would be dealt a body blow if off-spinner Saeed Ajmal fails to clear the test of his suspect bowling action. He said that Pakistan does not have a backup for Ajmal.

Miandad added that in the last five years, Ajmal alone has won 90 percent matches for Pakistan and if he is ruled out, the team will sag down. He said that he fears that a ban on the off-spinner is bound to hurt Pakistan's World Cup preparations.
