The US Open tennis tournament is expected to generate more economic activity than the 430 million dollar Super Bowl, which is a one-game, one-weekend affair.
According to ABC News, US Open is the only tennis grand slam in the US and it attracts international tourists and their dollars.
On average, about 40 percent of fans and patrons who come to the US Open are from outside the New York metropolitan area, the report said.
The sponsor list participating in the tennis tournament is one that many other tournaments all over the world could envy, the report added.
The US Open is planning to be covered with two separate roofs by 2018, the report further said.
