An official strategy document on counter-terrorism has warned that the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan will further boost the morale of the Pakistani Taliban.

The assessment by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in a document named 'Checkmating Terrorism: A Counter-Terrorism Strategy' has revealed that US-led foreign troop withdrawal will create a sense of euphoria among the Afghan Taliban and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan militants, the Dawn News reports.

According to the report, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is being urged by the researchers to take civil-military control of the Afghan policy to pre-empt the fallout of post-US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Prime Minister Sharif was also cautioned against embracing the militants' talk-for-peace offer on face value, the report added.

Pakistani militants would surely replicate the successful tactics of the Afghan Taliban in their struggle against the Pakistani state and the democratic dispensation which they deem un-Islamic.
