Uttar Pradesh revelled in the festive spirit on Saturday as the people celebrated the festival of colours, Holi in a unique way by wearing masks of prominent politicians and applied colour on each other.
This year the festival of colours is soaked with political hues as well due to upcoming parliamentary elections.
With only a couple of days left for the festival, people in Allahabad gathered to show solidarity among political rivals as they wore masks of their favourite leaders Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, hugged each other and played Holi amongst themselves.
But not missing an opportunity to promote their party, district President of women wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Suman Goswami said Modi is an ideal candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
"We all want that Narendra Modi should be the Prime Minister of India as he is an ideal candidate, only he can protect the nation and ensure proper law and order in the country," said Goswami.
Meanwhile, markets in city of Kolkata also saw Holi colours, spray guns and water sprinklers being sold like hot cakes.
