Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal chose to stay mum about questions over the Dutchman's possible appointment as the new Manchester United manager as speculations piled over a looming announcement.

Van Gaal reportedly did not answer any questions related to his move to Old Trafford while addressing a media conference in Hoenderloo, where the Dutch squad is holding a pre-World Cup training camp.

According to Sport24, Van Gaal said that he is there as the Dutch national team coach and not the future United coach, adding that the media must wait until the process is complete.

The Dutchman said that if the media wants to know more about his speculated appointment then they must be at United or any other club.

Van Gaal also declined to reveal his plans for Wednesday as a reporter asked him if he would be getting on a plane to England to sign a new contract, to which the Dutchman replied that they should ask United as he did not know.

The former Ajax, Barcelona, AZ and Bayern Munich boss said that he had said a few words last week about United because there had been uninvited English journalists outside his house and he thought that it would be a little mean spirited if he did not answer a few of their questions.

However, Van Gaal added that he mumbled a few words to them and from that they wrote 60 full pages, but one cannot do anything about it.

United is looking for a new manager since they sacked David Moyes and their veteran player Ryan Giggs took charge of the club as interim boss, while Van Gaal has been the frontrunner for the new job, the report added.
