Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi on Sunday met former party MLA Udai Bhan Karwariya, who is presently in Naini Central Prison in connection with Samajwadi Party (SP) legislator Jawahar Yadav's murder case.

Yadav was killed on August 13, 1996, in Allahabad's Civil Lines area.

Sulaki Yadav, the brother of the slain Samajwadi Party MLA, had last year lodged an FIR naming Karwariya as an accused.

Former BSP MP from Phulpur Kapil Muni Karwariya, Uday Bhan, Suraj Bhan and Ramchandra were named as accused in the murder.

Yadav's widow Vijma Yadav is currently the Samajwadi Party MLA from Pratappur Assembly constituency.
