Former England captain Michael Vaughan has said that new England head coach Peter Moores will work better with current captain Alastair Cook then he did with Vaughan.

During his first spell as coach between 2007 and 2009, Moores presided over 22 Test matches-winning eight, losing six and drawing eight- although England's most successful Test captain Vaughan resigned from the captaincy during the home series against South Africa in 2008.

According to the BBC, Vaughan revealed that Moores' style was not suitable for him when he was a captain as both he and the Lancashire coach liked to be at the forefront for which they frequently clashed.

In comparison, Vaughan said that Cook does not like to do much talking in the dressing room and thus could gel well with Moores as then the coach could take over the speaking job, adding that Moores' methods with the then-seniors like himself, Paul Collingwood and Andrew Strauss did not work well.

However, Vaughan said that Moores' style of coaching is perfect for the younger players and Cook, who he believes, likes to lead from the front in terms of the way he bats.

Moores, who was sacked in January 2009 after a breakdown in his relationship with Vaughan's successor Kevin Pietersen, will take charge of the England Test, one-day international and Twenty20 teams, the report added.
