Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is all set to be sidelined for 'weeks' after suffering a fresh injury to his knee, manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed
The 30-year-old, whose recent seasons were plagued by injuries, was taken off the field after being concussed during City's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in their Premier League clash on Saturday.
And now Guardiola insisted that the defender, who has recently returned to the squad following a four-month lay-off after undergoing groin and thigh surgery, suffered ligament damage to his knee.
"He has a problem with his knee. He could be out for weeks. He's sad and I'm sad. It's a long time he doesn't play," Sport24 quoted Guardiola as saying.
"He is in the best hands so he can recover as soon as possible. He will make the best treatment possible. The doctor told me a few weeks (that Kompany will be out). We'll see. It is ligaments," he added.
Kompany has made only two Premier League appearances under Guardiola this season following on from last season when he played just 22 matches, his fewest since joining the Etihad Stadium club from Hamburg in 2008.
