German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen launched the updated Vento in India on Tuesday, with the new avatar of the car coming with a 1.5 litre four cylinder TDU turbo diesel, capable of doing 21.5 kilometres per litre and a 1.2 TSI petrol engine, which will be able to do 18.19 kilometres per litre.
"India is an important market for Volkswagen. In the next 24 months, we plan to launch five new products," said Volkswagen Passenger Cars director Michael Mayer at the launch of the vehicle.
Volkswagen has sold around 1.10 lakh units of the Vento, which was launched in India in 2010.
Talking about the sales of the updated Vento, Volkswagen Passenger Cars chief marketing officer Kamal Basu said, "We are planning to sell 1,500 to 1,600 units of the new Vento per month."
The new car will be available in six colours. Candy White, Toffee Brown, Night Blue and Reflex Silver have been carried forward, while Titanium Beige and Carbon Steel are the two new colours. Volkswagen also plans to export the new Vento from India.
The car will be available at a base price of Rs 7.85 lakhs (Ex-Showroom Delhi) and will go up to Rs 11.87 lakhs (Ex-Showroom Delhi) for the Automatic Diesel variant. (ANI)
