Australian Test batsman David Warner has described England player Stuart Broad as a 'sook' and predicted a long, long summer for the bowler.
According to News.com.au, the insult goes beyond the recent banter because Warner based his criticism on a story, denied furiously by Broad and England, that Broad asked for two fans to be ejected from the SCG for barracking during the match against a Cricket Australia Invitational XI last week.
There is little doubt that Broad will be the target of verbal abuse at the Gabba when the first Test begins tomorrow after his refusal to walk at Trent Bridge last summer, just as Warner found himself the attention of crowds in England after punching Joe Root in a bar in Birmingham, the report said.
Warner seemed unaware that the Sydney Ground Trust, which runs the SCG, has no evidence to corroborate the claim against Broad, which emanated from a tweet based on second-hand information, the report added.
The Australian batsman said that Broad was already complaining and acting like a sook, adding that if he goes down that path, it was going to be a long, long summer for him.
