Following the registration of an FIR, former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli, and his wife Andrea for allegedly beating up their maid Soni on Sunday, the latter claimed that she was often threatened and abused.
"They would beat me and would not let me rest all day. They would abuse me. Kambli would slap me after getting drunk. He would wake me up in the middle of the night and ask me to serve him alcohol. They also took away my phone," Soni told ANI.
She also accused Kambli of threatening to kill her.
"I thought of complaining earlier, but they would threaten to burn my house and to kill me," she added.
According to the police, Soni, has told them that she was a housemaid for two years and was beaten and was locked up in a room for three days when she asked for her salary.
A case has been registered at the Bandra police station against both Kambli and Andrea under sections 342, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code(IPC).
