The first phase of polling in West Bengal on Monday witnessed 75 percent voter turnout till 4 p.m.
31 percent of the electorate cast their votes till 11 a.m, while 18 percent electorates cast their votes till 9 am in West Bengal assembly polls.
Voting began at 7 a.m. for the first phase of assembly elections in 18 constituencies of the state amid tight security.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today urged voters in Assam and West Bengal to vote in large numbers.
"Urging all those voting in West Bengal & Assam today to vote in large numbers. Young friends in particular must exercise their franchise," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
