Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he would not make any 'panic' deals for players before the transfer window shuts on Monday and also had a dig about inflated fees at rivals Tottenham Hotspur before Sunday's north London derby.
According to Sport24, Wenger has failed to bring in any of his top targets in the close season before Monday's transfer deadline, adding that the Frenchman has just managed to bring in French youth international forward Yaya Sanogo and has re-signed midfielder Mathieu Flamini.
In contrast, the report said that Spurs have been very active in strengthening their squad by spending money on Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Nacer Chadli while their Wales forward Gareth Bale is on the verge of a move to Real Madrid for a world record fee.
However, Wenger said that it is 'not his strength to panic', and in a dig at Tottenham, the Frenchman stated that the reported 100 million euro bid on Bale is linked with the financial condition of Tottenham, instead of the Welsh star's quality.
Wenger further said that for him, there are very few players who are economically justifying, or makes sense to pay for over 50 million pounds, hinting that Bale is not one of them.
Meanwhile, the report said that Arsenal failed with a bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and were linked with Gonzalo Higuain before his move to Napoli from Real Madrid.
Arsenal suffered a shock 3-1 loss at home to Aston Villa on the first weekend of the season before winning at Fulham last Saturday, while Spurs have maximum points from their two games, the report added.
