West Bengal: 4 mortar cells found in Teesta Canal
Four live mortar cells were spotted in Teesta Canal here on Thursday. The Indo-Bangladesh border is just 3.5 kilometres from the place the mortar cells were found.
On being alerted by the locals, the West Bengal Police and Border Security Force immediately rushed to the spot. Later in the day, Criminal Investigation Department's bomb squad also reached.
The Army was called to diffuse the mortar cells.
The area surrounding the Teesta canal is on high alert.
Further investigation is underway.
