Venus Williams' father Richard has said that much of his early life defined him as a child, a husband and a father.
Richard said that much of his life was based on hardships, and as a child he had difficulty understanding why his father didn't want him.
He even talked about how once the Ku Klux Klan members almost cam close to getting him, it was also the time when his father ran on his heels instead on tryng to save his son.
When Richard decided to leave Shreveport for Chicago, he decided that he just had to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan.
His friends helped him in his endeavour by stealing a Klan outfit and as the mask only had little round eyeholes it showed no skin. The gown was floor-length and his sisters bought makeup from the pharmacy and turned his hands into convincing white skin.
He said that after dark, he rode his dark blue bicycle into a white neighborhood with the KKK outfit neatly folded inside his jacket. He then wore the garb and selected his victim - a white farmer and his teen son sitting on a park bench, smoking and drinking.
In his anger, he picked up a stick. His attack on the father-son duo was quick and vicious. Creeping up from behind, he brought the stick down on their heads, and they cried out and fell to the ground, The New York Daily News reported.
He then ran away as fast as he could.
