Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday slammed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for the repromulgation of the Land Bill, adding that his party will fight for the rights of the farmers.
The official twitter account of Gandhi's office shared the Congress vice president's thoughts on the issue.
"Modi ji in an amazing hurry to grab land from poor farmers at any cost. A 3rd attempt at pushing the anti farmer Land Ordinance!" it posted.
"Congress Party will continue to fight for the rights of the kisan and mazdoor against this #suitbootkisarkar," it added.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, today approved the repromulgation of the Land Acquisition Bill.
The ordinance, which is currently with the Joint Committee of the Parliament for a detailed discussion on its provisions, is due to expire on June 3.
