Will Smith, who is known for blockbusters like 'Independence Day', 'Men in Black' and 'Bad Boys', will be honoured with Generation award at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards.
In a statement, Executive producer Casey Patterson said that the 47-year-old actor and MTV have grown up together and share a very cool history, adding MTV has been a part of every phase of his career, E! Online reports.
He further said the 25th anniversary of the Movie Awards is the perfect year to honour Smith with lots of big surprises in store.
Interestingly, the 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' actor is a 17-time MTV Movie Awards nominee, taking home the Golden Popcorn consecutively five times.
Hosted by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hartwill, the award ceremony will held on April 10, 2016, at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California.
