England fast bowler David Willey is all set to rejoin the ODI squad for the upcoming five-match series against Pakistan after his left hand injury was found to be less serious than first feared.
The 26-year-old Northamptonshire batsman, who was initially ruled out of the upcoming series after scans, sustained the injury during a T20 Blast Finals Day when he was struck by a fierce return drive from Mark Stoneman in his second over of the semi-final match against Durham, who lost by four wickets.
Confirming the news, England spokesperson said Willey has just suffered with bruising and, therefore, he is all set to join the squad after Wednesday's first ODI Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southamptom.
"On further review today, David Willey has been cleared of a fracture to his left hand and he will rejoin England's ODI squad on Thursday. His progress will be monitored by the medical team during the series," England spokesperson was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
Willey also took micro blogging website Twitter to confirm the news. He tweeted, "Good news! No serious damage so I'll be back as soon as the swelling goes! @SkyCricket @YorkshireCCC @englandcricket.
