The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) has launched an investigation into the washed out fourth and final Test match between the West Indies and India, where only 22 overs could be played at the Queen's Park Oval.
The Test between the two sides ended in a draw after no play was possible on last day of the match, the fourth consecutive day on which play was ended without a ball being bowled.
The farcical washout came despite long periods of sunshine and desperate efforts by ground officials to make the pitch playable, Sport24 reported.
While issuing an apology for limited play possible in the fourth Test, TTCB president Azim Bassarath confirmed that they had launched an investigation along with Queen's Park Cricket Club (QPCC) to determine why such situation arouse and with a view to remedying the problems so that it doesn't occur in future.
Although India won the four-match series 2-0 against the Caribbean side, they surrendered top spot in the ICC rankings to Pakistan, less than a week after taking over the number one position from Australia.
The two sides will now play two Twenty20 internationals on August 27 and August 28 in Lauderhill, Florida.
