Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray kicked off what is sure to be a busy awards season by winning the Sports Journalists' Association sportsman of the year award, according to reports.
According to the Guardian, the world No4 beat Novak Djokovic to end Britain's 77-year wait for a male singles champion at Wimbledon this summer.
Murray, who is hot favourite to be named BBC Sports Personality of the Year, won the sportsman of the year gong at the SJA awards dinner in central London on Thursday afternoon, the report said.
Murray was not at the ceremony, but he gave his thanks in a pre-recorded address, the report added.
The world 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu won sportswoman of the year, the report further said.
