Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury said on Thursday alleged that U.S. President Barack Obama calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a 'man of action' is bad news for the nation.
"According to me, it is a bad news for our citizens and the country," said Yechury.
"A 'man of action' in America means that you should loosen your economy so that others can reap benefits from it," he added.
Obama, who met Prime Minister Modi during a gala dinner that was hosted by Myanmar President Thein Sein for the leaders from with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and East Asia Summit (EAS) member countries, called the latter a 'man of action'.
"Prez Obama greets PM @narendramodi at Gala dinner - 'You are a man of action!'," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin tweeted.
Obama had earlier on September 29 hosted a private dinner for Prime Minister Modi at the White House during the latter's U.S. visit.
