Terming the removal of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan from the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) as unfortunate, BJP leader and former AAP member Shazia Ilmi on Thursday said this decision was indicative of the fact that those who raise questions within that party are removed.
"This shows that those who raise questions in the party are removed. It's better to leave the party when you see that you are not being able do the kind of work for which the party was made. It's unfortunate that they have been removed from the PAC where all the decisions are taken. What is the point if they are given some other responsibility," said Ilmi.
"Arvind Kejriwal ji is not well, but this is a fixed match that he chose this time to leave for the cure. He is the director of the script. This is just like any other party where either you agree with Arvind Kejriwal or leave the party. If it's true that Prashant Bhushan wanted to hurt the image of Arvind Kejriwal then why he did not do it before elections?" she asked.
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal evaded questions on the removal of senior AAP leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan from the party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC).
The AAP national executive took the decision of removing Bhushan and Yadav yesterday, along with plans of reconstituting the PAC.
According to reports, 8 members of the PAC voted in favour of Bhushan and Yadav, while 11 members voted against them.
The party also drew criticism from leaders across the political spectrum after it removed the two senior members from its top decision making body.
Kejriwal, meanwhile, has left for a naturopathy centre in Bangalore today to receive treatment for his deteriorating health.
