Veteran Pakistani batsman Younis Khan has said he was 'shocked' after he was dropped for the five-match one-day series against South Africa.

Khan, who is a veteran of 253 one-day internationals and has scored 7, 014 runs, was also ignored for the last ODI series against Zimbabwe.

According to Sport24, Khan, who retired from Twenty20 cricket n 2009 after leading Pakistan to victory at the World T20 finals in England, said that he was surprised and shocked at being dropped as he believes that he is fitter than he was at 24.

Khan further said that age is not an issue for him as other former captains like Imran Khan and present captain Misbah-ul-Haq have also performed despite being on the wrong side of 30, adding that the day he feels he cannot play, he will leave the game, although he hopes to do it by being at the top-level.

However, Khan also said that he would be satisfied if the player replacing him in the ODI series can perform well, adding such things have also happened to him in the past.

Khan could score only one in Pakistan's healthy total of 442 in the first innings of the first Test last week as Pakistan went 1-0 up with a seven-wicket victory over South Africa, the report added.
