YSR Congress criticizes Kiran Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu for absence from assembly

Reiterating its demand that the assembly should adopt a resolution in favour of keeping the state united first, YSR Congress on Monday criticized Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for their absence, when the Telangana Bill was introduced in the assembly.

Adressing the media here today, YSR Congress leader Sobha Nagireddy said, "Both Kiran Kumar and Naidu are only implementing the agenda of Cong president Sonia Gandhi over division by not trying to stop the introduction of the bill."

"We oppose the Telangana Bill outright in the assembly as we stood for unified state but the assembly first take up a resolution for keeping the state united," she said.

Saying that the CM, who had earlier vowed to obstruct the introduction of the bill in the assembly, had run away from his responsibility and added it is now clear he is only a paper tiger and the talk of his fight for keeping the state unified is only a drama.

She also stated that Kiran Kumar Reddy has cheated the people, Seemandhra public representatives and the agitators.

Criticizing TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Sobha said: "the TDP president found time to attend the swearing in ceremony of MP Chief Minister but could not find time to attend the assembly and obstruct the introduction of the bill. He is only aiding the CM in implementing the agenda of Sonia."

She also appealed to them to ensure at least now that the assembly will adopt a resolution in favour of Samaikyandhra.

On December 5, the Group of Ministers (GoM) had cleared the Telangana Bill.

The Group of Ministers (GoM) headed by Home Minister Shinde, which was constituted to address all the issues that need resolution at the central and state government levels in the matter.

Earlier on November 18, GoM completed the process of discussions with various stakeholders from the Telangana, Seemandhra and Rayalaseema region.

On October 3, the Union Cabinet had decided to go ahead with the process for the creation of a separate Telangana state carved out from Andhra Pradesh.
