The Italian manufacturer, Fiat India went on unveiling the facelift model of its highly acclaimed sedan model, Linea, at the recently concluded Delhi Motor Show. Considering the growing competition in the sedan segment, there was an immediate need to bring refreshment inside-out to the ongoing Linea model. When it comes to the competition, the C-segment has been getting new additions, one of the strongest is the all-new Honda City. Apart from this particular car, there are other cars like Hyundai Verna, Sunny, Fiesta and others, which are also churning decent sales for their respective car makers. The modifications made to the car are mainly focused on the interiors, while few changes over the exterior body enhances its outer appeal. The 2014 Linea facelift is already on sale in certain international markets. Lets make a brief distinction between the old and new model of Linea.
Exterior upgrades
Exteriorly, the saloon has been made imposing more premiumness to it. With the new double slat front chrome grille, uniquely designed fog lamps and the most prominent is a streak of chrome flowing underneath the air dam and following a bend that ends just above the fog lamps. Overall, the new bumper design syncs perfectly in order to complete front end of the saloon. Adding more to the elegance is the headlamp design and fine creases over the bonnet of the car. As far as side profile is concerned, there's no such change made, but again with the rear, the car gets alterations with new bumper having an additional chrome strip and now, the licensing plate has been positioned on the bootlid. Talking about the previous generation Linea, it boasts a mesh grille with the Fiat badging over it, air dam again with a mesh design, overall there is not much use of chrome on the front.
Interior upgrades
It can be said that the facelift process is more about interior changes than the exterior ones with the 2014 Linea. In order to enhance plush feel inside the car, there is a new three-layered, dual-tone dashboard, centre console with integrated audio system and AC vents, instrument cluster gets chrome ringed start/stop dials and steering wheel sports silver chrome over it. The elements like climate control buttons, gear lever and door pads remained as it with the new model. With the older version, all the above mentioned features were missing, and with these newly added attributes, Fiat Linea 2014 appears to be upmarket and more adorable. The upgrades too speak for the well-known Italian craftsmanship that is undoubtely part of every Fiat product till date.
Engine
In terms of engine details, the 2014 Linea facelift retains the same 1.2-litre T-Jet petrol and a 1.3-litre Advanced Multi-Jet engine. The petrol engine performs to offer max power output of 112.4bhp, while diesel is tuned to offer 91bhp of power.
