Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra, was ranked third in the inaugural ‘WorldofCEOs.com’ ranking of the ‘Top 30 CEOs on Social Media’. This global ranking recognizes those CEOs who are pioneers and early adopters of social media. Mr. Mahindra is the only Indian to feature on this list.
To arrive at this ranking, ‘WorldofCEOs.com’ used respected social media analytics firm, Klout’s metric-based measure - the ‘Klout Score’ - which is calculated after looking at followers and engagement across multiple social networks including Twitter, LinkedIn and CEO blogs. Mr. Mahindra’s Klout score was 81 out of 100, up from 76 earlier. His Twitter handle (@anandmahindra) which has over 838,000 followers, was recognized for being a ‘lively account with lots of regional and emerging markets flavour.’
The Klout score was then combined with qualitative factors like which CEOs create true value-added content as determined by users, to develop the final list. The value added by CEOs was measured in terms of originality and positive impact on the corporate world, their industry, and application to their own company. WorldofCEOs.com favoured those CEOs who had actively and consistently contributed to the leadership agenda and to social media over time.
The Top 5 executives on the list include:
1. Richard Branson, Chairman, Virgin Group
2. Jeff Weiner, CEO, LinkedIn
3. Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group
4. Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman, Google
5. Marissa Mayer, CEO, Yahoo
This is the second global ranking received by Mr. Mahindra on social media during 2013. In May, his Twitter account was ranked 4th in the 'Top 25 CEOs to Follow on Twitter' listing done by the ‘CEO Guru’ blog.
