CarDekho has been constantly informing you about Audi's aggressive plans for the Indian car market. The German luxury carmaker that leads the luxury car segment, is planning to further enhance its market share by introducing a new premium A3 sedan. We reported earlier that Audi will unveil the A3 sedan at the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo followed by the later launch in the year. The vehicle has been spotted several times during its test rounds on Indian roads.
Expected to be Audi's cheapest offering, the new A3 sedan is likely to be priced around Rs. 22-25 lakh. We expect that the new premium car will become the company's top selling product in the market, and will surely open a new segment for other carmakers including Mercedes-Benz and BMW to launch more such products.
Internationally, Audi A3 is loaded with several features such as Audi's drive select system, two zone climate control, new MMI and a multi-functional steering. We could also see a stripped down version of the sedan, like Audi Q3 Sport.
The premium sedan will come in both petrol and diesel guise. The petrol model will get the 1.4-litre TFSI engine producing 140PS, or the company could also use the 1.8-litre TFSI engine that churns out 180PS. The diesel A3 sedan will get either 1.8L or 2.0L diesel engine.
