We reported earlier that Datsun will launch a compact sedan in the Russian market in 2014, which will be based on a Lada Granta. Now, the vehicle with Go face has been spied fully undisguised, showing the sedan is ready to launch. Instead of making global products, Datsun aims to develop vehicle using local components which suits the taste of local market. vk.com/JustLada, the Russian auto fan page revealed this image.
Unlike Go and Go+ MPV, the Datsun sedan will feature a different mechanics, however the overall styling looks similar. As this model is a completely new and is based on different platform, so we expect it not to make its way to India. It will be easier and cost effective for the company to manufacture a sedan based on Go hatchback. Moreover, it is also expected that the company will not launch the Go hatch and Go+ MPV in Russian market.
The two compact cars are based on old Nissan's Micra platform (V-Platform), while the Datsun sedan gets the Granta platform which uses highly localized components. Like we mentioned earlier, Datsun will produce vehicle which is especially tailored made to suit the need of local market.
The new Datsun Granta-based sedan is expected to be priced around 380,000 rubles (approximately Rs. 7 lakh). The vehicle will go for production by early 2014, is expected to be launched at the next year's Moscow International Auto Show in August.
