Ever since Ford announced its plans to develop the Mustang for right hand drive markets, we’ve been waiting for the muscle car to make it to our shores. Ford confirmed that it will bring the car to India and after a showcase at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the Mustang is all set to be launched tomorrow!
The Mustang is offered with four engine options globally i.e. a 2.3-litre, 4-cylinder EcoBoost, a 3.7-litre V6, and the full-fat 5.0-litre V8 a.k.a the Mustang GT. There’s also the 5.2-litre V8-powered Shelby GT350 and while we won’t get that, India will be getting the 5.0-litre V8 so we’re not complaining. The Mustang V8 produces 401PS of power and 515Nm of torque, and while it is available with a manual gearbox, the India-spec car will only come equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shifters.
The sixth-generation Mustang incorporates a blend of retro-modern elements, including the long bonnet, stubby rear end, chiseled shoulder line and aggressively contoured bonnet. Even the cabin has plenty of old school touches, with the steering wheel, instrument cluster and even the AC vents styled to look reminiscent of the original car.
However, in keeping with the times, the Mustang does get modern car must-haves and features adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, launch control, LED headlamps and taillamps and a dual-zone climate control system. The Mustang also comes with selectable drive modes and electronic line-lock, which is essentially an electronic aid to help pull off a clean burnout.
