'Make ways for the cool cats in town' – Maruti's ways of telling Honda City that they are soon to rage the mid-size segment with Ciaz! Ahead of its launch next month, Maruti Suzuki has started the promotional campaign for the SX4 replacement. Maruti Ciaz's microsite is now online on the Maruti's office webpage. Furthermore, Maruti's marketing campaign goes with the hash-tag '#coolcatsintown'. Speaking about the launch, sedan is likely to land in the first week of September and will compete with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, 2014 Fiat Linea and 2014 Ford Fiesta in general.

Speaking about the refreshed mid-size sedan segment, Ciaz's major rivals will be the Honda City. Since the time India's favorite sedan – City got a diesel heart, it has been clocking 7000+ units every month and counting! Moreover, Ford Fiesta has also received a major facelift recently with a price tag that is pretty competitive while the design makes every head turn at the red lights! Sunny has also received a facelift with added goodies on-board, retaining the roomy cabin. Furthermore, the runner in this segment when it comes to sales – Hyundai Verna is also quite a competitor when it comes to performance and features. Lets see what difference Ciaz will make!
About the engines, the expected powertrain are the Ertiga borrowed 1.4 liter K series naturally aspirated petrol. This engine gathers 93.5bhp (95PS) and 130Nm of max torque, probably be mated to a 5-speed manual while an CVT automatic is likely to be on cards. On the diesel front, the 1.3liter DDiS (Fiat's Multijet) is most likely to power the sedan; the motor belts out 88.8bhp and 200Nm of max torque. Just like the Ertiga, this engine will also be mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Maruti may surprise us with new transmission or any other tweaks to the engines, lets wait for September!
