India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has introduced a special edition 'Elate' model of its Ritz hatchback. Like most of the special editions launched in India, the Elate edition comes with a sticker-job in terms of outside tweaks and some additional features inside the cabin. Though the prices of Ritz Elate Edition are yet to be announced, but we expect it to be priced 20,000-25,000 above the standard model.
As told above, the changes are restricted to just some minor tweaks. So, the engine options of the special edition remains identical. Petrol variants comes with a 1.2 litre 4-cylinder K-Series mill that outputs 85 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.3 litre 4-cylinder Multijet turbo diesel engine (sourced from Fiat) pumps out 75 bhp of power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both engines get 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while the petrol Ritz gets a 4 speed automatic as optional. Maruti claims a fuel efficiency figure of 23.2 kmpl and 18.5 kmpl for the diesel and petrol trims respectively.
Placed just below the company's best-seller Swift, the price of the standard Ritz starts at INR 4.23 lakhs while the diesel trims start at INR 5.27 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The Ritz sells about decent 3,000 units a month currently and the special edition is an effort to push that tally a bit. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki is offering a good INR 65,000 discount on the Ritz in the form of a 30,000 rupees cash discount and a 35,000 rupees exchange bonus.
