Maruti Suzuki kicks off Dakshin Dare's sixth-edition

India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki today flagged off the sixth edition of the annual southern motorsport event ‘Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare 2014.’ The seven day ‘motor rallying’ event will cover over 2000 kms around South India which includes Mysore, Shimoga, Chitradurga, Davangere, Bellary, Hospet, Hubli and the last destination Goa.

Explaining the popularity of Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare, Mr. Manohar Bhat, Vice President, Marketing, Maruti Suzuki, said, “Designed to motivate and encourage motorsports enthusiasts from India and abroad, Maruti Suzuki has pioneered many motorsports events across the country. Like wide range of cars, we have several rally formats suited for amateurs and professionals. Rallies bring out the best in man and machine. The best teams and best machines make podium finish. Historically, our cars have done well and we are proud of their consistent performance.”

He adds, “Increasing participation of motorsports enthusiasts encourages us to strengthen the motorsports events. Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare in particular offers a unique rallying experience full of dirt, slush and tarmac.

The participants of the event will compete with each other in three categories across Endurance, Ultimate Bike, Ultimate Car. The winners of rally will be felicitated at Goa, on the 10th of this month. Maruti's own employees, at least 10, will also be a part of the rally. The employees would be from different streams such as engineering, quality assurance, service.

Other than this, Maruti Suzuki has been organizing many other rallies such as Raid-de-Himalaya (North India) and Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm (West India). And according to the company, Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare was therefore designed to bring the joy of motorsports for people in southern India. Apart from the home team, the rally will see participation from other Indian regions like Nashik, Manali, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Mysore, Kerala, Kolkata and many more.
