Mazda Motor Corporation has released a virtual sports car in a bid to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Gran Turismo video game series. Christened as LM55 Vision Gran Turismo, the concept is a tribute to the famed #55 787B race car, that gained overall victory at the 1991 24 Hour Le Mans.
For the design of this virtual concept, the Mazda Design team blended agility with elegance in the car's dynamic silhouette. The car uses the brand's KODO design language on its front fascia, while its stance is reminiscent to powerful yet graceful #55 787B, that won the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans. Although, Mazda hasn’t mentioned whether it is a rotary powered car or not, but we are aware that it features some of the car manufacturer's SkyActiv fuel-saving technologies.
As a part of 'Vision Gran Turismo' project for Gran Turismo 6, the latest Gran Turismo series has been developed by Polyphony Digital Inc. in partnership with Mazda. Like all other Vision Gran Turismo concepts, the Mazda LM55 will also be just available for download as a drivable car in Gran Turismo 6, available exclusively on the well-known PlayStation 3 from Sony. The fans should be able to download the car for free after installing a Holiday Season update in Gran Turismo 6 area.
