Just like its closest rival BMW Mercedes-Benz continued its previous year’s success streak and started the New Year with record sales of 1,25,865 vehicles, 13.6 percent more than the same month of the previous year.

"We have started the 'year of the SUVs' at Mercedes-Benz with a sales increase of 37% in this segment", said Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales. "In 2015 we will continue last year’s momentum with new products across all segments: in the high-end with the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 and in the micro car-segment with the new smart for two and smart for four, which are highly popular among our customers. January unit sales of the new smart models increased by nearly 30% in comparison to the previous year’s month."

The European market showed positive growth for the German brand with a healthy 14.5 percent sales increase to 47,693 vehicles. The German carmaker’s performance in the Asia-Pacific region also achieved a sales record of 46,269 vehicles, up by 16.4 percent, of which 28,080 cars were delivered to customers in China.

A total of 27,621 models were sold in the Nafta region, more than ever before. With sales of 24,619 cars, a sales record was achieved in the United States. Even in Russia, Mercedes-Benz unit sales were up by 16.2 percent up during the month, in contrast to the general market forecast.
