Public debut to held at the 2015 85th Geneva International Motor Show
Skoda will make the global debut of the third generation Superb next week on 17th of February, 2015. And as announced earlier, the Czech automaker will introduce the new Superb in Prague. The sales of the same are set for mid-2015 in Europe. Speaking of the Indian launch, it is expected early next year.
Recently, Skoda has revealed the official pictures of the upcoming third generation Superb's cabin and couple of months earlier they released a sketch which hinted its design inspiration from the Skoda VisionC concept from last year Geneva Motor Show. The released interior image of Superb’s was of Laurin and Klement trim featuring a choco brown and black dashboard. The dash design cues are similar to that of the new Octavia and the Fabia, featuring a large screen infotainment system, electronic parking brake, park assist amongst other.
Talking about the powertrains in context with India, Skoda will continue with the current engine options - 2.0-liter TDI turbo diesel (140PS/ 320Nm) and 1.8-liter TSI (160PS/ 250Nm). This said, as the sedan has received a generation change, most likely both the engines will be uprated, similar to that of updated 2015 VW Passat, which indeed in heading to India this year. Like the on-going car, the transmission options will be carry forwarded - 6-speed manual/ 7-speed dual-clutch DSG (petrol) and 6-speed dual-clutch DSG (diesel). However, Skoda India might ditch the manual with this third generation Superb.
