We have heard that, few dealers have started taking bookings of this India’s first entry level crossover hatchback - Renault Kwid, so things are on! We bring you what we know so far about the Kwid, Let us roll!
What you’ll be getting in 3-4 lac price bracket is a crossover-esque vehicle with Duster like stance, unlike any other product in this segment. It is expected that it will offer best-in-class ground clearance. Renault is also likely to launch Stepway version of the Kwid just like the Lodgy and indeed Kwid was recently spied with Lodgy-Stepway like grille with plenty of chrome appliques and bigger wheels with alloys (Renault showcased 13-inch steel rims with wheel cover).
At the time of revealing, Renault revealed that Kwid will be powered by an 800cc petrol motor, probably a basic MPFI (Multi-Point-Fuel-Injection) motor. No info on the engine yet but Renault says that it will have the class leading fuel efficiency figures. Moreover, expect the power to be in the vicinity of 60 bhp.
Renault has put-in the MediaNav infotainment system in the Kwid, a segment first touchscreen unit. And like the Duster and the Lodgy, it also features satellite navigation. It has features which are alien in this price bracket, also not found in a segment above or even higher!

Digital Instrumentation Cluster
Kwid will have an all digital instrumentation cluster and its a typical Renault thing. Although it looks like a basic dot-matrix display but we don’t get this stuff in this segment. It features a large central display for the speed while on the sides you get fuel indicator along with the warning lights, no info on the tachometer as of now.
Although Renault has not confirmed it yet, but rumours are building up that the company will also offer Kwid with a larger capacity 1.0-liter motor. Moreover, Kwid was recently spied with Lodgy Stepway like grille, probably this version will be pulled by the bigger motor. Seeing the AMT (Automated-Manual Transmission) demand in this segment, Renault could offer this tech in the upcoming Kwid.
