Tata Tiago, the highly anticipated hatchback from the homegrown manufacturer will be launched on 28th of March. The car is expected to take the company’s aspiration to revive its small car segment presence to a new height. Competing against the likes of Maruti Celerio and Hyundai i10, the Tiago is expected to be launched at a competitive price tag.
The car carries Tata’s latest design philosophy that will be seen in its lot of future vehicles. The car was showcased in the Indian Auto Expo along with its sedan twin, the Kite 5. Though, mostly recently, both of these are being displayed at the Geneva Motor Show. The Tiago will fill the space between the Nano and Bolt, while replacing the rather outdated Indica eV2.
Apart from the revamped looks and an entirely new design platform, the Tiago gets lot of attractive feature. To start with, there are two new engine powering it, both petrol as well as diesel. The 1.2-litre inline 3 cylinder petrol puts out 85 PS of power along with 114 Nm of torque. It belongs to the Revotron range of engines and is constructed using aluminum-just like its competitors. On the diesel side, it gets an all new 3 cylinder 1.05-litre aluminum motor that is good for 70 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque.
The interiors of the car gets an appealing layout and a lot of features like Harman music system with Bluetooth connectivity. Moreover, the music system plays on a 8-speakers which is certainly a best in the segment.
Speaking of other Tata vehicles, its compact SUV Nexon and the all-roader Hexa are there in the pipeline and might land to the market somewhere by the end of the year. The Nexon, being a sub-4 meter vehicle will compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and Maruti Vitara Brezza. Whereas, Hexa will be pegged against the upcoming Toyota Innova and Mahindra XUV500.
