Volvo Reveals S90 R-Design

Volvo has unveiled the R-Design avatar of its India-bound flagship sedan — the S90 along with its estate version. The vehicle is up for order in the UK, while deliveries are slated for later this year. Speaking of its Indian debut, the S90 will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2016. The R-Design version might come to India as well, since the Swedish automaker offers sportier R-Design avatars of the S60 sedan and the V40 hatchback in the country.  

Björn Annwall, senior VP, marketing, sales and customer service, Volvo Cars, said, “R-Design delivers an edge to our elegant estate and saloon models in our 90 Series, with a winning combination of a sportier, more responsive drive with clearly visible performance styling.”  

Volvo has not revealed details about the S90 R-Design. But the automaker did highlight that it has tuned the chassis slightly for an energetic, road-hugging drive. And like the rest of R-Design versions, the S90 R-Design will use the same powertrains and transmission options. 

Speaking of the sportier aesthetic additions, the S90 R-Design will come with a bespoke grille along with a spoiler integrated with fog lights and piano black trims on the front as well as the rear. It features five-spoke matte black diamond-cut alloys similar to that of the XC90 R-Design. On the inside, the car features unique deco-trim pedals and mats along with sporty contour seats, a special steering wheel and a different interior illumination package compared to the stock.
