Area Coverage under Rabi Crops moves to 596.24 lakh hectares

As per Rabi Crops data released by Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture, total area coverage as on 30 January 2015 under Rabi crops moves to 596.24 lakh hectares while last year's sowing area was at 636.04 lakh hectare. Wheat's sowing area is at 305.94 lakh hectares as compared to last year's 315.25 lakh hectares. The area under sowing of total Coarse cereals is at 56.76 lakh hectares as compared to last year's 60.01 lakh hectares. The area under sowing of Gram is at 83.93 lakh hectares this year while the last year's figure was 99.27 lakh hectares. Area coverage under Total Pulses is at 138.68 lakh hectares while the last year's sowing area coverage was 154.49 lakh hectares. Similarly sowing area under total oilseeds is at 79.39 lakh hectares as compared to 88.58 lakh hectares last year.
