SpiceJet and Jet Airways (India) surged 3.52% to 4.44% at 15:24 IST on BSE aided by recent steep decline in international crude oil prices.
SpiceJet (up 4.44% at Rs 13.40) and Jet Airways (India) (up 3.52% at Rs 219.05) edged higher.
Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 41.94 points or 0.16% at 26,230.03.
Brent crude oil for November settlement was off $1.03 at $91.08 a barrel. The contract hit a low $90.76 a barrel earlier in the session, its lowest point since June 2012. The contract had declined 68 cents to settle at $92.11 a barrel yesterday, 7 October 2014, the lowest settlement price since June 2012.
Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) or jet fuel price is linked to international crude oil prices. Jet fuel constitutes about 40% of airlines' operating cost.
