Buying from FPIs continues

Net purchases of Rs 637.94 crore on 29 March 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) remained in buying mode on the Indian bourses for the 8th trading session in a row on 29 March 2016. FPIs bought stocks worth a net Rs 637.94 crore on 29 March 2016. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 2039.02 crore on 28 March 2016. The net inflow of Rs 637.94 crore into the secondary equity markets on 29 March 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4664.40 crore and gross sales of Rs 4026.46 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex fell 65.94 points or 0.26% to settle at 24,900.46, its lowest closing level since 17 March 2016.

There was a net inflow of Rs 3.01 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' on 29 March 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3.27 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.26 crore.

FPIs have mopped up stocks worth a net Rs 19239.53 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 29 March 2016). FPIs sold stocks worth a net Rs 6069.31 crore into the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 2988.29 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 29 March 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

There has been a net inflow of Rs 381.73 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in this month so far (till 29 March 2016). There was an inflow of Rs 547.92 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month.

The net outflow from FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 14.86 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 29 March 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
