Buying from FPIs in equities continues

Net purchases of Rs 556.14 crore on 2 August 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) remained buyers of Indian stocks for yet another trading session on Tuesday, 2 August 2016. FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 556.14 crore from the secondary equity market on 2 August 2016, compared with their purchases of Rs 811.25 crore during the preceding trading session on 1 August 2016. The net inflow of Rs 556.14 crore on 2 August 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4936.77 crore and gross sales of Rs 4380.63 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex shed 21.41 points or 0.08% to settle at 27,981.71, its lowest closing level since 26 July 2016.

There was a net outflow of Rs 309.04 crore by FPIs from the category 'primary market & others' on 2 August 2016.

FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 31717 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 2 August 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

The net inflow from FPIs into category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 1482.10 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 2 August 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
