Shares of three copper producers fell by 0.55% to 3.6% at 10:55 IST on BSE as copper futures declined sharply in the global market.
Sesa Sterlite (down 3.6%), Hindalco Industries (down 3%) and Hindustan Copper (down 0.55%), edged lower.
The S&P BSE Sensex was up 18.68 points, or 0.07% at 27,444.41.
Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange tumbled as much as 8.7%, while Shanghai copper fell 5%, the maximum it is allowed to fall in one day, because of the global economic concerns.
Demand for the metal in China, the world's biggest user, is forecast to slow this year while supply rises globally.
