Emami drops after reporting weak Q2 results

Emami dropped 2.82% to Rs 1,020 at 10:30 IST on BSE after consolidated net profit fell 32.97% to Rs 61.34 crore on 16.46% increase in total income to Rs 587.54 crore in Q2 September 2015 over Q2 September 2014.

The result was announced after market hours yesterday, 29 October 2015.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 23.44 points or 0.09% at 26,861.58.

On BSE, so far 11,704 shares were traded in the counter as against 14,155 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 1,035 and a low of Rs 987.35 so far during the day. The stock had hit a record high of Rs 1,367.90 on 5 August 2014. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 705 on 17 December 2014.

The large-cap company has equity capital of Rs 22.70 crore. Face value per share is Re 1.

Emami said bottomline was impacted because of amortization of Kesh King intangibles. The company had acquired hair & scalp care business under the 'Kesh King' and allied brands for Rs 1684 crore (including duties & taxes) in June 2015. Emami's cash profit rose 30.3% to Rs 133 crore in Q2 September 2015 over Q2 September 2014. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBIDTA) rose 34.5% to Rs 152 crore in Q2 September 2015 over Q2 September 2014. EBITDA margin rose 3.4% to 26.5% in Q2 September 2015 compared with 23.1% in Q2 September 2014.

Emami said new brands such as Fair and Handsome Instant Fairness Facewash, Emami 7 Oils in One, Zandu Balm Ultra Power and Zandu Gel Balm Jr. continued to perform well.
