FPIs continue buying

Net inflow of Rs 1219.36 crore on 16 January 2015

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 1219.36 crore on Friday, 16 January 2015, compared with inflow of Rs 1692.35 crore during the preceding trading session on Thursday, 15 January 2015.

The net inflow of Rs 1219.36 crore on 16 January 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 6753.09 crore and gross sales of Rs 5533.73 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 1216.16 crore into the secondary equity market on 16 January 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 6748.22 crore and gross sales of Rs 5532.06 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex rose 46.34 points or 0.17% to settle at 28,121.89, its highest closing level since 5 December 2014.

There was a net inflow of Rs 3.20 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 16 January 2015.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 1463.37 crore in this month so far (till 16 January 2015). They have bought shares worth a net Rs 1448 crore into the secondary markets in this month so far (till 16 January 2015). FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 1036.29 crore last month. They had sold shares worth a net Rs 1707.17 crore into the secondary equity market last month.

FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 97055.90 crore in the calendar year 2014. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 84440.80 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2014.
