FPIs continue buying

Net inflow of Rs 403.91 crore on 1 February 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have bought stocks worth a net Rs 403.91 crore on 1 February 2016, lower than net inflow of Rs 686.23 crore during the preceding trading session on 29 January 2016.

The net inflow of Rs 403.91 crore into the secondary equity markets on 1 February 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4280.67 crore and gross sales of Rs 3876.76 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex fell 45.86 points or 0.18% to settle at 24,824.83, its lowest closing level since 28 January 2016.

There was a net inflow of Rs 0.77 crore into the category 'primary markets & others' on 1 February 2016.

FPIs sold stocks worth a net Rs 10181.93 crore into the secondary equity markets in January 2016. FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 9091.79 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 1 February 2016). FPIs offloaded shares worth a net Rs 4361.67 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

The outflow of FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' totaled Rs 944.51 crore in January 2016. The outflow of FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 870.13 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 1 February 2016). The inflow of FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' stood at Rs 22167.82 crore in calendar year 2015.
