FPIs continue buying

Net purchases of Rs 4301.58 crore on 31 March 2016 and 1 April 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 4301.58 crore in two trading sessions on 31 March 2016 and 1 April 2016. The net inflow of Rs 4301.58 crore into the secondary equity markets on 31 March 2016 and 1 April 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 14944.37 crore and gross sales of Rs 10642.79 crore. On 31 March 2016, the Sensex rose 3.28 points or 0.01% to settle at 25,341.86. On 1 April 2016, the Sensex fell 72.22 points or 0.28% to settle at 25,269.64.

There was a net inflow of Rs 207.62 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' on 31 March 2016 and 1 April 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 207.62 crore and zero gross sales.

FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 8770.90 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 1 April 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

The net inflow from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 233.39 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 1 April 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
